Trinidad based Guyanese Delroy Tyrrell will represent Trinidad and Tobago at the goodwill Swimming Championship which will be held in August at the Centre of Excellence in Trinidad. Delroy, born to Drs. Fitzroy and Jianna Tyrrell, placed second overall in the boys 11-12 category at the recently concluded National Age Group Short Course Swimming Championship help at the St. Michaels Swim Pool in San Fernando.
This meet is usually used to select the national team to represent T&T at the Goodwill Swim Meet. Some of the times he turned in are 200 free style (2:19.48 secs), 200IM (2:41.50 secs), 100 back (1:13.55 secs), 100 fly (1:12.41 secs), and 50 back (34:12 secs) among others.
The Tidal Wave Aquatics of Trinidad and Tobago, under the tutelage of Miss Haynes and her daughter Chabeth Haynes, has represented Trinidad and Tobago in the past two years at Goodwill Swim Meet in Barbados and Suriname. Tyrrell is one of eight (8) swimmers from Tidal Wave selected to represent Trinidad this year. Delroy’s parents and brother expressed pride at his accomplishment and will be on hand to support him.
