A one-week training in First Aid for ten fire fighters of the Guyana Fire Service concluded yesterday at the Central Fire Station, Stabroek Georgetown.
During the one-week training, participants were exposed to practical and theory.
Fire Chief Marlon Gentle said that the long term goal and objective of this training is for ranks to be ready for when the organisation re-launches it emergency ambulance service.
He further sees cooperation with the French going a far way. He said that he has had a fruitful discussion with French Fire Chief, Mr. Felix Antenor-Balzanac, on exploring other avenues of cooperation in the technical field especially in the areas of rescue.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s French counterpart has pledged great support and has extended a hand to have five of the best participants train in French Guiana through an exchange programme. At the end of the training the participants are expected to train others in this field of first aid.
The Guyana Fire Service and the French Guyana Fire Service have shared strong bilateral relations since 2010.
