Four police constables were under close arrest yesterday as officials seek to recover a .38 service revolver that vanished from the Suddie Police Station.
A source said that the firearm was stolen from a strong box at the station between 20.00 hrs on Thursday and 08.00 hrs yesterday.
While the constables are the only ranks so far in custody, Kaieteur News understands that the station sergeant and another rank who was in charge of the shift are the only individuals who had access to the strong-box keys.
A team has been dispatched from Georgetown to the location to conduct investigations.
