The 2015 Los Angeles Special Olympics World Games will draw 7,000 intellectually challenged athletes and 3,000 coaches from 177 countries. According to a release from the local Special Olympics body, Guyana will be represented by four athletes and two officials. All the athletes will compete in athletics events.
The team is – Calvin Thomas – 3000M, 5000M & 4x 400M relay; Deandra David – 200M, 400M & 4x 400M relay; Kevin Pryce – 100M, 400M & 4x 400M relay; Aneisa Bowman – 100M, 400M & 4x 400M relay. Athletes will also compete in a mixed relay.
The release further informed that the Guyana delegation is scheduled to depart on July 21, 2015 and return on August 3, 2015. Special Olympics Guyana would like to thank the following agencies for their support in making the upcoming trip possible: – Digicel Guyana, Guyana Olympic Association, Continental Agencies Limited, Mings Products and Services, Ansa McAl Trading Ltd., Noble House Seafoods, Ministry of Education Department of Sport, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry and Giftland Office Max.
