DEAR EDITOR,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the letter section of your newspaper for printing my letters over the years and especial thanks to Mr. Glenn Lall and Mr. Adam Harris for their thoughtful consideration in reviewing and publishing my opinions.
I must mention that Mr. Harris’ articles in the Sunday edition of KN are not missed by me, and his style of writing and observations of regular life in Guyana are subtle and definitely to the point, but with a simplicity which only Mr. Harris can provide.
Since KN has hit the streets as a daily newspaper, the positions your publication has taken towards the politics of Guyana has been very positive for our national interests. The KN exposures into corruption, abuse of power and the excesses of the former government while in office, has had a telling effect on all politicians, who now have to watch what they do and what they say in the public eye.
The freedom of the press and thus KN’s freedom of expression has to be upheld at all costs and it has been wonderful for all of our citizens to see that KN, even though intimidated, threatened and bullied, has soldiered on to become a viable source of information, and more so, a source of resistance to any pressures by politicians or others upset by its reporting.
Editor, your newspaper, along with SN, brings enlightenment to the Guyanese public and I feel humbled that my letters are good enough to make it into your publication. Keep up the good work, because journalism allows a wide range of approaches to press freedom and KN has certainly carved out it’s unique image as straight-up and hard- hitting, which I suspect comes from the prerogatives of its owner and publisher, Mr. Glenn Lall, who is obviously a public reformer committed to exposing half-truths and outright lies by those in power, like the former PPP government.
