The nation’s best riders will converge for the third consecutive day today, following the Malta Supreme National Park Meet on Saturday in the National Park and yesterday’s 4th annual Baker Memorial Classic held in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden.
Today, the focus will be at the Seawall Band Stand where the 12th annual Wheat Up CARICOM Day Cycling Classic sponsored by the National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO) and organized by the Roraima Bikers Club (RBC) will take place from 09:00hrs.
Lucrative cash prizes are on offer in all the races and according to NAMILCO Financial Controller Mr. Fitzroy McLeod at the launching held earlier this week at the company’s Agricola Head Office, it will be a day of exciting races and he urging fans and lovers of the sport to come out and enjoy.
RBC President Brian Allen has also promised that the day will be entertaining and will see the top riders being handsomely rewarded with over half a million dollars at stake.
Directors of the company and their staff as well as executive members of RBC are expected to be out in full numbers for the event which has 12 races carded.
The first to third place finisher in eleven (11) of the races would be rewarded with cash, while the top six in the feature event would receive cash with the top three also collecting a trophy. Fifteen (15) sprint prizes would also be at stake valued at $1000 each in the main event.
