Dear Editor,
In light of the recent happenings (or I should say), with the decision that the current Minister of Public Security has made regarding the implementation and enforcement of the existing law that pertains to all entertainment night spots and bars being closed at a given time period, I humbly support this move.
However closing the nights spots are not the only thing the police officers should do; they should also make sure everyone steer clear of the scenes and be on their way home, so as to minimize the risk of being attacked or even worse, being “ROBBED”.
Secondly, the Minister should re-imposed the no-loitering on the roads or street corners after hours (8 pm to be exact), unless you have credible reasons to do so or are going home.
Thirdly, vamp up Police patrols in and around areas so as to give a warning to perpetrators waiting to strike.
All in all I think we are on the right path to bringing Guyana back to a state of lawfulness and order, which inevitably will benefit each and every Guyanese whether we disagree or not. I also should say, this new government has to be strict when it comes to crimes whether: (A) it is a misdemeanor; (B) felony or a serious offence, let who ever commits such atrocity feel the full effect of the law.
As Guyanese we should abide with the laws of Guyana because whenever we leave to move or visit another man’s country, we somehow abide by their rule of law and we do not say they’re somewhat dictating our lives. However ironic and absurd this may seem.
