Off-spinner Plaffiana Millington grabbed six wickets for a meager three runs off four overs to propel Berbice to a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Essequibo when the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) senior female inter-county 50-over tournament commenced yesterday.
Essequibo’s decision to bat backfired as they were sent packing for 19 in 12 overs at the Guyana Defence Force ground. Selena Shewram and Natasha Boson were the leading batters with six and five respectively. Left arm seamer Erva Giddings supported Millington with 2-7. Openers Melanie Henry (07*) and Katana Mentore (04*) then saw Berbice to victory in four overs as they ended on 20-0; extras assisted with nine. Millington was given the player of the match award. The competition continues today with Essequibo facing Demerara at the said venue.
