Soesdyke Secondary School continued their winnings ways when they recorded their second win in as many matches at the Timehri Red Ground when the 2015 edition of the Digicel Schools Football Championship, Region #4 East Bank Demerara Zone continued yesterday.
Following their huge 19-0 pummeling of Covent Garden Primary on June 30 at the same venue, Soesdyke were in no mood to let up as they whipped Providence Primary 7-0 yesterday.
With both teams featuring players from clubs on the East Bank, the game was billed to be a competitive one but as it turned out, the winners were too much for Providence to handle on a sunny afternoon.
Playing not too far from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, Soesdyke Secondary took flight from the 5th minute and never looked back. Tyrone Khan it was who handed his team the lead with the first goal of his double, the second came in the 42nd minute.
The sandy nature of the playing surface did not deter neither side from showcasing some nimble individual skills; but it was the Soesdyke boys, with home advantage who looked the most threatening when it came to scoring.
The lead was doubled in the 21st minute compliments of a Shammon Samnaught effort. Providence Primary tried their best to be potent opponents but could not match the offensive minded Soesdyke boys.
In an effort to stem the flow of goals, Providence Primary used three goalkeepers, all to no avail. They did not do their chances any good when Joshua Harrylall was red carded in the 67th minute for using indecent language.
The other goal scorers for Soesdyke were Shane Meusa (36), Joel Sutherland (45, 68) and Cledwin Williams in the 55th minute.
Meanwhile, Soesdyke were in rampaging mood when they started their quest for top honors in the Zone with a whopping 19-0 win over Covent Garden on June 30. Tyrell Khan blasted the nets on six occasions with Tryone Khan hitting the network one time less. Joel Sutherland fired in a hat-trick, Trevon Gulley a brace while there was one each for Shane Meusa, Stephon Steele and Joshua Seaton.
Action in this Zone will continue on Monday when St. Cuthbert’s Mission tackle Friendship Secondary.
The East Bank final is set for next Thursday at the same venue.
