Police have added popular promoter Freeman Fordyce to its wanted list as it intensifies investigations into the attempted murder and abduction of car wash operator, Devon Chung, which occurred last Friday, at D’Urban Street and
Vlissengen Road.
The bulletin issued by the police yesterday, two days after police had detained a man and a woman from a Sophia residence, in connection with the incident said that Fordyce was now a wanted man.
Chung, 37, of Lot 142 Guyhoc Park, was shot in the chest and back at around 19.10 hrs, allegedly by two men who had abducted him from his wash bay at D’Urban Street and Vlissengen Road. Relatives later said that he was shot in the back while escaping from his captors. They said that Chung made his dash for freedom after the car suffered a puncture.
Kaieteur News understands that one of Chung’s abductors had a submachine gun.
A member of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) was conversing with Chung when the gunmen attacked near to the wash bay. The CANU officer was relieved of his firearm.
Police say that Fordyce, who is well known to law enforcement, is 39 years old. His last known address is listed as 271 South Ruimveldt Gardens.
