Ninth Dan Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai, founder of the International Karate Daigaku, graded 95 Karatekas of the ASK-Guyana at the YMCA Thomas Lands on Sunday last. Woon-A-Tai was assisted by
6th Dan Sensei Amir Khouri.
Ask-G students from, Wowetta-Annai, Linden, Albion, Blairmont, Land of Canaan and Georgetown (West Field, North Georgetown & YMCA) were graded by Shuseki Woon-A-Tai.
Wowetta in the heart of Annai, North Rupununi Region 9 excelled once again with another First Dan Black Belt Karateka.
The eldest of three brothers Ernie Moses, following in the footsteps of his younger siblings, was successful in achieving his First Degree Black Belt at the YMCA, Thomas Lands. Also in the limelight was one of Albion, Berbice own in Melissa Marie Rayappen who achieved a Second Degree Black Belt; 12 year-old Saif Amoi received his First Degree Black Belt.
YMCA also had its share of success with 11 year-old Aryan Tarun Singh passing accomplishing his Second Degree Black Belt and 10 year-old Matthew Gurahoo, 12 year-old Ria Esther Smith, 14 year-old Stephen Lewis and Mahadeo Ramotar all achieving their First Degree Black Belts.
There were a total of 87 KYU Grade promotions:
7 students to White/Yellow Stripe Belt (9KYU);
7 students to Yellow belt (8KYU)
8 students to Orange Belt (7KYU)
15 students to Green Belt (6KYU)
16 students to Blue Belt (5KYU)
9 students to Purple Belt (4KYU)
13 students to Brown Belt (3KYU)
5 students to Brown Belt (2KYU)
7 students to Brown Belt (1KYU)
Outstanding KYU promotions:
Raymond Ollivierre, Hafeez Khan and Joel Nurse from White to Yellow Belt.
Clint Jones and Asaad Abdool from Yellow to Green Belt.
Ridwan Juman from Orange to Blue.
Shazeeda Subhan from Green to Purple Belt.
Ricardo Juan from 3rd Brown to 1st Brown belt.
Meanwhile, Shuseki Woon-A-Tai will be holding special training session at the GKC today and YMCA tomorrow from 18:00hrs to 19:30hrs. These sessions are designed to help students who will be attending the IKD World Cup & Camp 15-19 July, 2015 in Toronto Canada.
