The surviving twin baby born to the 15-year-old Wakapoa, Lower Pomeroon River teen almost two months ago is still being monitored by doctors. The baby has not gained sufficient weight for him to be discharged.
While still monitoring the condition, doctors have since released the child into his mother’s care. He was previously kept in an incubator.
The teen’s aunt, Norma said that her niece was doing well but she is uncertain when doctors would discharge them. She was however told that as soon as the baby attains the required weight, he would be discharged from hospital.
Norma is hoping that when her niece is discharged, she would re-enter school and complete her secondary education, since she was doing well in school.
The teen accused a family member of rape while she was vacationing last year at Timehri with her older sister. The teen said that the man raped her while her sister had left her alone at home. A report was lodged with the Police, at the Charity Outpost but no arrest has been made.
Meanwhile, the other 15-year-old who was apparently impregnated by her father has been transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Her father has since been charged for rape.
