The largest mortgage institution in Guyana, The New Building Society Limited has joined in supporting the Berbice Cricket Board Fundraiser…..”Caricom Championship 2015″.

At a simple ceremony held recently, Bryan Baker said that his company provides a very important service to the citizens of Guyana with its head office in Georgetown and six other branches across the country. He added that the society is always cognizant of its corporate responsibilities and willingly gives back to charity and charitable organizations. He mentioned that sports plays an important role in nation building and encourage young sports personalities to take full advantage of the opportunities available today. He encouraged administrators to help mold our young people and lead by example.
Speaking on behalf of the board, Angela Haniff, BCB representative, thanked the mortgage institution for their confidence in the Berbice Cricket Board and their continued support over the years. She promised that the competition will be well conducted with good mileage for all sponsors. She said that the board has a history of good accountability and will continue to do so.
Haniff called on other companies and private individuals to join the board in the effort to return three day first division cricket to Berbice after several years.
Proceeds from this event will be used mainly to organise that competition.
The Caricom Championship will be played at the historic Albion Sports Complex on Sunday July 5, 2015 will see eight top first division teams in Berbice taking part in a ten over knockout competition with the final of 20 overs to be played under lights for a top prize of $80,000 and trophy. The runner up will receive $40,000 and trophy with the losing finalists $15,000 each. Man of the match in every game will be rewarded.
Action starts at 10am sharp with the top Berbice cricketers on show.
Meanwhile, the draw was done and is as follows:

Young Warriors/Rose Hall CC/Edinburgh Combined vs UCCA/Skeldon Combined.
Game 2:
Albion CC vs Bermine/Police Combined
Game 3:
Port Mourant vs Bush Lot/D’Edward Combined
Game 4:
Blairmont/West Berbice Combined vs Rose Hall Town
The winner of game 1 and 2 play in the first seminal and the winner of game 3 and 4 plays in the other.
Several gate prizes will be up for grabs by the fans with a well stock ANSA MCAL bar and musical entertainment. Games for the young and old will also be there. Entrance is $300 for adults, children under 12 free.
