Jilted teen attempts suicide

An 18-year-old Jibb, Essequibo Coast woman, who attempted to end her life by consuming a quantity of gramoxone, remains in a critical condition at the Oscar Joseph Hospital.
While the teen’s condition is being monitored by doctors at the medical institution, her hopes of surviving has been given by medical practitioners as “slim”.
The teen, Nazeema Rafick, apparently consumed the poisonous substance after learning that her boyfriend, the same guy with whom she had eloped, went and sought another girl’s hand in marriage.
The teenager had returned to her parents’ Jibb home when she decided to take her own life.
In another case, a young man was also hospitalized after he consumed a quantity of a poisonous substance. He was hospitalized at the Suddie Public Hospital.
