Dear Editor,
Max Messiah has started a powerful movement on media, every Friday on NCN at 8pm, highlighting the benefits of strength sports as it pertains to a better life, be it body building, martial arts, boxing or mixed MA.
Today in Guyana we have more than our quota of vehicles, necessary to our commuting, and as job earning machinery, where the varieties of job choices are lacking.
We also consume a lot of alcohol and with the abundance of fast food official and non-official outlets; a lot of home cooking isn’t happening. Formulas for bad health without some loyalty to a fitness habit.
Strength training works in various ways, it lifts self esteem, gets the blood flow going , enhances libido, so everyone is happy, though technically broke. Then it propels one to examine what one eats, because you are physically what you eat.
One of the virtual legacies my father left me was “The body is a temple, treat it right and the Gods will bless you” even for him, was easier said than done. Maximum Sports is a unique programme, with a universe of knowledge to be unfolded.
On Wednesday, 3 June last, MAXIMUM SPORTS held its first Anniversary seminar at the National Cultural Centre.
The star of the show was our own International Icon Laura Creavalle, a Ms Olympia favourite. I would have liked to have seen a full house of Health enthusiasts at the Cultural Centre, but true to my evaluation it was a small but reasonable crowd of serious folk, Max delivered a well balanced programme, with some hiccups, from the support NCC staff, The local martial arts groups did their thing, and though not pro-actors, they delivered their skits well.
The throne of it was the Olympian Laura Creavalle , she delivered to us mortals and the Demi-Muscle Gods and Goddesses there. It was a crisp no nonsense interactive programme. So you weren’t there?
Well, here’s a profound extract, we don’t eat solid country no more, I’m talking boil and fry provision wid egg or fish, or giblets with loud tomatoes fuh breakfast.
We eat sandwiches sunny side up and some tea, then grab something solid by midday because we’re really hungry then or fast food, and by evening we’re famished, eat something heavy late in the night and fall to sleep, and that’s how fat replaced my once 32″ waist.
The heavy meal should be breaking-the –fast, and the lightest meal, before we enter the Fast, there; you missed a great fitness seminar.
Thanks again to my buddy, Max Messiah, and to his sponsors, A Ally & Sons and others, keep the good work up, get Guyana healthy, for Strength combat healthy people, think faster and don’t need the thorny shoulders of alcohol and drugs to lean on.
Barrington Braithwaite
