In another case 36-year-old Paul Rodney appeared before Magistrate Leron Dailey yesterday to answer an armed robbery charge.
Rodney of North Ruimveldt was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment.
On November 13, last, at Friendship, East Bank Demerara, while armed with a gun, he robbed Desmond Singh of $380,000 cash.
During the trial, a total of six witnesses were called.
Rodney, in his defence, told the court that he and Singh were gambling in a cock fight when an argument arose because Singh lost the game.
Police Prosecutor Inspector Michael Grant told the court, the defendant and two others saw Singh in Friendship, EBD, when they approached him with a gun and robbed him of the cash.
