… Republic Bank sets up ATM in new Giftland Mall
Giftland Office Max will be closing its Water Street, Georgetown, operations
today with a massive “blowout” sale.
The popular retail store’s closing is to facilitate the company’s move to Pattensen, East Coast Demerara (ECD), where the new Giftland Mall is preparing to open its door come July 2.
This new East Coast Demerara complex is estimated to cost $24M and sits on 6.3 acres, with three acres set aside for parking.
According to Giftland Office Max Marketing Manager, Crystal Ramdeo, sales in the past week have kept the Water Street store “extremely busy”. She related in a recent interview with this newspaper, that the store has managed to sell hundreds of products in the last few days.
Sales this week, the Manager said, are part of the store’s clearing out of inventory as the new Giftland Mall will be stocked with new products. She added that today is the last for the sales, with discounts ranging from 20 to 60 percent.
“We are confident that inventory will be reduced by a lot. I don’t think we’ll have that much to take with us (to the new mall),” said Ramdeo. She noted that staff and management have been
planning for the move and that the store is ready to start operations at their new location.
Ramdeo said that while the move will be a big adjustment for many she has received positive responses from customers.
“The response from customers is that they’re extremely excited about the deal that we’re offering. We’ve gotten a very positive response that costumers will come and visit us at the new location because of all the different features, including food courts, cinemas, more varieties and better qualities always,” the Marketing Manager said.
July will be the mall’s “phase one” opening as sections of the complex are still under construction.
The mall’s phase one opening will include an Electronic Store, Sports Store and Department Store. In addition to three stores, the company will be commissioning two of the eight cinema screens from its movie section along with a section of the mall’s food court.
Meanwhile, as preparations are fast underway for the new mall, Republic Bank yesterday officially signed on to providing service to the shopping complex. The bank will be providing an ATM at the mall for the benefit of shoppers.
Marketing Manager of the Giftland Mall, Karen Agtarap, said that the company is excited and grateful to be embarking on the new venture with the popular bank, as the mall strives to facilitate the needs of its customers.
