Skeldon High made it to the next round of the Digicel Nationwide Schools Football
Action in the clash between Skeldon High and Skeldon Line Path Secondary yesterday at the Skeldon Community Centre ground.
Competition after surviving 4-3 in a penalty shootout against Skeldon Line Path Secondary yesterday, at the Skeldon Community Centre ground.
The two teams had played to a 2-2 stalemate in regulation time with Orsino Moses (26th) and Ravin Hendricks (50th) netting for the winners, while Ravin Partab booted in a brace in the 41st and 47th minutes for the losers.
Moses sent Skeldon High ahead when he scored from the penalty spot after being brought down in the penalty area.
Supported by some excellent goalkeeping by Odean Cort for Line Path, their strikers turned the pressure on Skeldon High and Partab went around defender Ken Austin and then pulled away from the next defender Kundan Dhunmun, before firing past Thophal Grey stationed between the uprights
Partab, who was making life miserable for the Skeldon High backline, was again in action when he punched in from close range as the transfixed Grey watched the ball head over the line.

This immediately prompted captain Safraz Esan to take up the position between the uprights and he too had to produce a spectacular save to deny Partab a hat-trick, turning the ball round the corner for a corner-kick.
With time expiring Skeldon High went on an all out attack and the tactic paid dividends when Hendricks ran on to a weighted pass from Akeem Blades, but his effort was intercepted by a defender who in his effort to rifle the ball out of the danger zone saw it slam into Hendricks’ foot and rebound into the back of the goal to level the proceedings at 2-2.
Both teams tried desperately to net the go-ahead goal, but when the final whistle sounded to signal the end of regulation time they remained deadlocked and a penalty shootout was the next option to unseal the two teams.
The ensuing spot kicks tilted back and forth until a miss by Skeldon Line Path and a successful final effort from Skeldon sealed victory.
The Region Six leg of the knock out tournament will continue on Sunday when Orealla take on Siparuta at Orealla.
