The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) with sponsorship from Mr. Ramesh Sunich of The Trophy Stall will be staging the 4th Annual Trophy Stall Volleyball Competition tomorrow at the Port Mourant all weather
court situated in the Port Mourant Community Centre, starting at 09:30 hrs.
A number of top teams from Berbice are expected to participate in the one day competition and among them are- :- PMTC 1, PMTC 2, Port Mourant Jaguars, 3 Door Strikers of D’Edward, Rollers of New Amsterdam, Fyrish, No 53 of Corentyne and Tain also of Corentyne . Two female teams are also expected to participate in the competition.
Top team Castrol Strikers of Demerara has been invited as a guest team to match skills with its Berbice counterparts.
The first, second and third place winners in the male category will receive trophies as well at the top team in the female category. Among the individual prizes up for grabs in both categories are –MVP, best setter, best spiker, best blocker, best server, best defence and best libero among others.
Sponsor Mr. Ramesh Sunich is expected to be on hand to serve the ball and assist with the presentation ceremony, while top officials of the Guyana Volleyball Federation are also expected to be on hand.
The BVA is also expected to use the occasion to look at current and new players to continue training for upcoming events.
The BVA wishes to thank Mr. Ramesh Sunich for his unwavering support in assisting to promote and develop Volleyball in Berbice and Guyana as a whole. All teams are urged to be punctual. (Samuel Whyte)
