Magistrate Judy Latchman jailed a confessed thief for 48 months on Tuesday, for stealing a cricket band from a woman.
On March 13, last, Kelvin Washington of Lot 43 Princes Street, Lodge, Georgetown stole one gold bracelet valued $186,000 from Portia Jacobs.
The incident took place at Regent and Alexander Streets, Georgetown.
The defendant first appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and denied the allegation. However, yesterday he decided to enter a guilty plea.
Police Corporal, Shawn Gonsalves, prosecuted the matter while the convict was unrepresented at the hearing.
The Court heard that on the day in question, at around 11:00 hrs, Jacobs was in a taxi when the accused approached and snatched her gold band.
He was later pointed out by the taxi driver with whom Jacobs was travelling.
Washington who was on remand throughout his trial was convicted before for a similar offence.
