An East Bank Berbice man travelled to West Berbice and tried to kill his reputed wife, her brother and a male friend. He then burned the house down, before hanging himself.
Nandlall Ragnauth, 48, a canecutter of Krotheraadt Village, East Bank Berbice was found hanging from a tree in the yard hours after the attack.
Ragnauth and his reputed wife, Hushmanie Rasheed, 28, had ended a reportedly abusive relationship, a few months ago.
The couple had lived together for about eight months at Kortbraadt and during that time, the man on many occasions threatened to kill the woman, thus she subsequently decided to end the relationship. However the man did not take kindly to being given the boot and continued to stalk and threaten the mother of one.
Over the weekend he showed up at her mother’s home and after he was rebuffed, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
On Sunday evening around 20:50 hrs he managed to enter the woman’s home and attacked her in her bedroom. The woman managed to escape without many injuries. Her brother Devanand Tuldas who was at home at the time, was attacked by the man, as his sister managed to escape after the 21 year old man put up a fight.
Rajnauth later attacked a male friend of the woman Bharat Narine 34, a fisherman, whom he stabbed about his body.

Wellington Hospital where they were treated and sent away. Narine was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was admitted as a patient.
Ragnauth subsequently returned to the residence where he reportedly set the house on fire before hanging himself on a tree in the yard.
According to a police release –at about 20:50hrs on Sunday evening, June 21, 2015, cane harvester Nandlall Ragnauth, 48 years, of Krotheraadt, East Bank Berbice, went to the home of his reputed wife’s mother at No. 7 Village, WCB, where he broke into the home and attacked his reputed wife Hushmanie Rasheed, 28 years, with a knife.
Hushmanie Rasheed, her brother Devanand Tuldas, 21 years, and a friend Bharat Narine, 34 years, of No. 2 Village, West Coast Berbice, were stabbed to their bodies during the incident.
Nandlall Ragnauth then set the house on fire, which was destroyed, and hung himself from a tree on the premises. The body is at the Fort Wellington Hospital Mortuary.
Hushmanie Rasheed and Bharat Narine were treated at the Fort Wellington Hospital, while Devanand Tuldas has been admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Investigations are in progress.
