One of his lungs is punctured and he’s partly paralyzed on the right side, but the teen who carried out a brutal attack on 43-year-old Mohamed Alli is still at large.
Alli, a welder of Lot 164 Eastfield Drive Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara, was stabbed last week Tuesday, allegedly by a 17-year-old with whom he had a dispute.
The altercation reportedly started when the teen accused Mohamed of making uncomplimentary remarks about his conduct during his visits to Mohamed’s home.
According to the relatives, Mohamed chased the youth from his yard, but when he turned away, the teen stabbed Mohamed six times in the back and neck.
The injured welder has been admitted to the Male Surgical Ward at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Relatives alleged that the attack left him with a ruptured lung and that he suffered some paralysis on the right side of the face.
The matter was reported to the police, but the injured man’s relatives said that ranks investigating the case have claimed that they have been unable to locate Mohamed’s attacker. They also alleged that police claimed that they have to get a search warrant to check the teen’s residence.
A relative of the suspect had offered $45,000 to help with medical expenses, but the family said that they refused the offer.
They are also appealing with police to step up their efforts to locate the suspect.
