Bush Lot/D’Edward combined announce team
Another sponsor has shown faith in the Berbice Cricket Board and that entity is Office Express of Public Road No 78 Village and Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice. The business, which only recently opened a branch in the Corriverton area next to Venu Shopping Center, will provide gate prizes for the Berbice Cricket Board Fundraiser “Caricom Championship 2015”.
At the presentation, Manager Mr Yudesh Armogan said that his company, which deals with photocopying, printing, Internet cafe and all stationery items for schools and businesses at unbeatable prices, is delighted to be part of this fundraiser and they are always impressed with the work of the board. He added that the business is growing as evident by the opening of another branch in Corriverton and that is only possible because of the support of Berbicians. As a result, he felt compelled to give back to the community through this noble game of cricket.
Speaking on behalf of the BCB, Board Executive Vicky Bharosay thanked Mr Armogan and Office Express for their kind support for cricket over the years and promised him that the tournament will be professionally run with transparency and accountability being top priority. He added that gate prizes will give the fans more reasons to be there. He called on the young cricketers to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the BCB for the game provides lots of financial gains these days.
The BCB is working feverishly to make sure that three day first division cricket returns to Berbice. The board is appealing to all cricket lovers in Guyana and in the diaspora to come on board with the BCB to further enhance the game in the ancient county. Others sponsors on board so far are: Sentinel Security Inc, Republic Bank Guyana Ltd, Sandeep Ramdas of Ishmail Poultry Establishment (Pampey), Safraz Photo Studio and Rocky of Palace Taxi Service and Restaurant and Bar. The board would like to thank the print and electronic media for their support so far.
Proceeds from this event will be used mainly to host a three day cricket competition and will be played at the historic Albion Sports Complex on Sunday July 5, 2015.
The Caricom Championship will see the top eight T20 first division teams in Berbice taking part in a ten over knockout competition with the final of 20 overs to be played under lights for a top prize of $80,000 and trophy. The runner up will receive $40,000 and trophy with the losing finalists $15,000 each. Man of the match in every game will be rewarded. Action begins at 10am sharp with the top Berbice cricketers on show.
Meanwhile, the combined Bush Lot/D’Edward team has been named and is as follows: Jaipaul Heeralall (captain), Javed Saywack (vice captain), Somdat Bharrat, Glenroy Fraser, Kurd Griffith, Akeem Miller, Keyron Fraser, Paul Deepnarine, Nivendra Prasad, Eon Abel, Heeralall Bridgelall, Pooran Persaud, Abdul Subhan, Keith Fraser and Lakeram Sukra
Many gate prizes will be up for grab for the fans with a well stock bar and musical entertainment. Games for the young and old will be available. Entrance is $300 for adults, children under 12 free.
