Kwakwani Secondary inflicted a 3-0 licking on Harmony Secondary as play in the 5th edition of the Digicel Nationwide Secondary Schools Championship continued yesterday, at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
Linden James, Kevin Carter and Cassius Campbell netted for the winners in the 70th, 75th and 80th minutes respectively to eliminate Harmony that had defended stubbornly for a large duration of the encounter.
The result, however, did not reflect the tough resistance that the homesters put up, before Kwakwani broke it in the final ten minutes of regulation time totally eradicated their defensive mindset.
James opened the scoring who he rose above every defender to deliver a bullet-like header past the goalkeeper off of a corner after seventy minutes.
It then became 2-0 five minutes later when Carter delivered a stupendous volley from centrefield that landed over the head of a scrambling goalkeeper into the back of the net after sprinting on to a bouncing ball. Racing onto a bouncing ball 28 yards from goal, the diminutive Carter unleashed a powerful effort that sailed over the head of the keeper and into the back of the net.
Campbell then sealed the deal fortuitously after he unleashed a powerful strike from about 20 metres out which skidded under the goalkeeper’s boots and into the empty goal.
Action in the tourney will continue tomorrow with several matches at various venues.
