A night of adventure ended in tragedy for two friends yesterday, one of whom lost his life while the other remains critical at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
According to reports, around 02:00am Beau Allison, 27, of Louisa Row, Werk -en -Rust Georgetown and his friend Akeem Kansinally,23, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown were on a motorcycle on the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), when it reportedly collided with a motorcar.
Beau Allison who had Kansinally as his pillion rider, was reportedly attempting to overtake the motorcar when the accident occurred. The two were rushed to the GPHC with severe injuries. Allison was pronounced dead on arrival while his friend was admitted to the facility.
When Kaieteur News visited GPHC yesterday afternoon, Kansinally was being prepared for an x-ray.
Grieving friends and relatives of the deceased gathered at his lot 49 Louisa Row home in disbelief at his untimely passing. The man’s mother was so overwhelmed with grief that she could not speak.
Allison‘s reputed wife spoke briefly with reporters. The woman who has two children with Allison appeared to be at a loss for words. She took a few moments to contain her emotions before relating that she last saw her spouse alive when she visited him at his residence on Friday evening.
She said that she was told that her children’s father was called out the home by a friend about 10:30hrs.
She recalled receiving a call from her mother-in-law who informed her about the accident about 4:00 hrs yesterday morning. They remain unsure where the man was coming from, and it was speculated that he
was returning home.
Allison’s former teacher who taught him at the West Demerara Secondary School, described him as a very respectful and helpful person. He disclosed that the class had planned a reunion which Allison was supposed to be attending but unfortunately his life was cut short.
One classmate, (Lisa) who this newspaper understands was a close friend to Allison was unable to hold back her tears as she wept uncontrollably outside the home. The pain was evident as the young lady appeared shaken by the loss of her friend.
Meanwhile, the driver of the motorcar is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
