The family of Quincy Abrams, who was discharged from the GPHC on Wednesday with a bullet lodged in his body, is peeved at the hospital’s decision to release the young man.
One relative said that it is troubling because an incident of similar nature led to the death of another young man who resided in the same village. Abrams resides at 31 Friendship Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
The relative said that he is worried that the same may reoccur if his relative is not re-admitted to undergo emergency surgery to remove the bullet.
He pleaded, “We are not interested with the shooting right now; we just want the bullet to be removed and then the rest will be sorted out later.”
Abrams was air dashed from the Wallabaka Backdam to the GPHC with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, on Tuesday.
Reports had stated that the miner was shot during an argument with another man. The shooter was not the person engaged in the argument with Abrams; he was the person “picking up fire-rage”.
The shooter, Godfrey Lambert, has since appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer two charges in connection with the incident.
