With Region Two in need of a brand new generator to effectively distribute electricity to residents on the Essequibo Coast, blackouts continue to plague its residents.
Residents of North Essequibo experienced blackout for over three hours on Thursday night. On Wednesday the outage was for about an hour.
Essequibians are disgusted even as employees of the power company continue to effect maintenance work on the two Wartsila engines that are long past their best days.
Hema Madhoo, who resides at New Road on the Essequibo Coast with her family, said that the situation is fatiguing. She said, yesterday, that she was forced to dispose of a quantity of fish, beef, chicken and other food items.
Madhoo explained that having to endure long hours without electricity, make people uncomfortable since they are forced to put a hold on things they have to do.
Madhoo, who says that she is thinking of starting a business, has to now contemplate on whether or not to continue with her plan, due to the unstable supply of electricity.
Meanwhile, Eustace Alphonso contends that the situation is overbearing. Alphonso said that whenever there is blackout, there is also no supply of potable water for that period.
