The St George’s Sophia Kings combination defeated Bishops Wonders by 11 runs in the Final of the Goodwood Racing Service and PKF Barcellos Narine & Company’s fifth School’s Tapeball six-over cricket competition on Saturday at the National Culture Centre Tarmac. The competition was organized by the Royal Tapeball Cricket Academy for School Boys.
The St George’s Sophia Kings collation reached a healthy 86 off their allotted six overs with Andre Gibson top scoring with 47. Bishops Wonders were left wondering how they did not get to their victory target as they were restricted to 75-9 off their allotted six overs despite a fighting 39 from Neraj Mangal.
Mark Mitchell, Captain of the Champion team was named Player of the Tournament after scoring the most runs and taking the most wickets in catches in the 10-team competition.
The participating teams were the winners, the runners-up, Berea Royals, Dolphin Nets, Charlestown Squatters, Tutorial Raiders, St Winifred’s Hawks, Lodge Champs, East Ruimveldt Warriors and Cummings Lodge Indians.
The next competition is scheduled for Saturday July 4.
