Wallace Stuart, commonly called ‘Killer’ of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/ Linden Highway, made a court appearance at the Providence Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Leron Daly on Wednesday.
Stuart was charged for the murder of his reputed wife, Carol Miriam Shako.
The unrepresented ‘killer’ was remanded to prison until his next court appearance on August 10, 2015.
According to reports Stuart killed his wife with an axe following days of arguments. The killing occurred on Monday June, 8, last.
Shako, neighbours said, lived a life of misery at the hands of her alleged killer, with whom she shared a common-law relationship for quite a number of years.
Following the hacking to death of Shako on Monday, neighbours have revealed that the woman had been a victim of constant beatings by her killer who was ironically nicknamed “Killer” because of his constant bragging of being a killer in the past.
According to neighbours the man constantly threatened to kill the woman and her elderly mother who resides with them at the home.
It was just Sunday night that the two were spotted having one of their many encounters but neighbours took it for granted as it had became a customary behaviour for the two.
There are reports that the woman’s mother had to sleep under a structure of tarpaulin not too far from the home because of the man’s vicious behaviour.
A known alcoholic had alerted the neighbours that the woman was being killed but he was ignored because of him being a ‘drug addict’.
It was not until the man covered in bloodstains went over to a neighbour’s home and told them “I just put her to rest”. He also said that he had doused to home with kerosene and was going to set it ablaze.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman’s family is yet to come forward to claim her body so that an autopsy can be done.
