The Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (GCUSA) annual training for umpires
continued yesterday at the Demerara Cricket Club.
Students were given lecturers on law four (scorers), five (ball), six-(bat), seven (Pitch) and eight (wickets) by umpire and cricket commentator Matthew Kissoon. The session was attended by both males and females including seven new comers.
In an invited comment former international umpire Eddie Nicholls said there is a need for clubs to send more representatives to the sessions since it is beneficial to both players and administrators. Nicholls stated that since female competitions will be held in the near future, they should make an effort to be present as well as practicing umpires.
The classes are open for young and aspiring umpires throughout Guyana and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays of every week from 17:00 hrs at the said venue.
