Four months after defeating Nicaraguan, Jose Rios, for the IBF Inter Continental Bantamweight
title at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, December 6 last, Elton ‘The Bully’ Dharry returns to the ring when he challenges Miguel Robles tonight over eight rounds at the Amazura Concert Hall, Queens, New York.
Dharry has completed most of his training sessions at the famed Gleason’s Gym, Brooklyn NY and has exuded confidence in taking tonight’s bout. He started his professional career with two wins, against Mark Fernandes, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) and Sandy Childers, in the USA, but faltered somewhat in his next six fights, losing all but one. He has since picked up the pieces and the Rios victory has made it thirteen in a row.
He enters the contest with a glamorous record of 18 wins of his 22 fights to date, 11 of them were by the knockout route, while he has suffered 5 losses and drew one of his bouts. Further, Dharry has also won all 13 of his last fights with 9 of them finishing inside the distance. The last time he tasted defeat was in September 2009 when he surrendered a lopsided points verdict to American, Isander Beauchamp.
Among Dharry’s most convincing victories were a first round technical knockout over Leshaun Blair in a scheduled 6 rounds encounter in Washington USA, a decision victory over Nicaraguan, Jose Rios, for the IBF Inter Continental Bantamweight title and a first round stoppage of American Desi Williams.
Dharry’s opponent tonight is as formidable as they come having compiled a record of 12 wins with 5 of them finishing inside the distance. He is on a 3 fights losing streak and surrendered his last fight against Miguel Cartegena by a 2nd round stoppage. The two fighters possess contrasting knockout ratios with Dharry sporting a percentage of 45.83 as against Robles’ 27.78 average.
