Top Guyanese female sprinter, United States-based, Brenessa Thompson was awarded
the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) 2015 Wingate Award as an Outstanding New York City (NYC) Senior Athlete, Girls Track and Field at Medgar Evers College.
Thompson, who is the daughter of a former national senior sprinter, Brenon Thompson, received the prestigious award that Kadecia Baird won last year, Monday night at a gala ceremony held at the Marriot Hotel in Brooklyn, New York.
Thompson was Guyana’s lone representative at the CARIFTA Games this year after a travel mix up kept the local athletes at home. In addition, Thompson has been dominant in the Indoor circuit in the US, turning in impressive performances.
