A move by Plastics Products Limited (PPL) to have its products certified nationally, has been regarded as laudable by the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS).
PPL’s sustained quality production saw the GNBS on Monday granting it permission to continue use of the National Standards Mark on its Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) pipes. The company has a thriving manufacturing complex at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara.
According to GNBS, the permit was granted in light of the fact, that the pipes manufactured by the company continue to meet the requisite testing and quality requirements of two specific National Standards.
These standards, which fall under the GNBS Product Certification Scheme, are: GYS 107, ‘Specification for pressure – rated PVC pipes (SDR series)’ and GYS 99, ‘Specification for PVC pipes schedules 40, 80 and 120’.
The renewal certificate, which is valid for one year, was presented by Mr Al Fraser, Technical Officer II, on behalf of the Executive Director of the GNBS, Ms Evadnie Enniss. Accepting on PPL’s behalf was Production Manager, Mr Bharrath Rampersad, who at the time was in the company of support staff.
GNBS in lauding the operation of PPL announced that it is proud of the company’s efforts, and the commitment demonstrated by such companies to have their products certified to the requirements of National Standards.
Other products certified to National Standards are PVC pipes manufactured by Guyana Thermoplastics Limited and gold jewellery manufactured by King’s Jewellery World and Steve’s Jewellery.
