DEAR EDITOR,
It is most regrettable that I pen this unfortunate letter against a company that I once loved. Digicel has robbed me and in my humble view – it has they have committed a criminal offense.
To begin with, I activated a two-day prepaid data plan of which I paid $500 for 100 megabytes. Before my plan came to an end my megabytes were exhausted hence I chose the option of buying additional megabytes. I purchased 100 megabytes at the cost of G$500. I bought these megabytes with my money. I did not use up all the megabytes and my two-day prepaid plan came to an end. I had approximately 80 megabytes remaining. I then decided to activate a second two-day prepaid data plan.
When I checked the amount of megabytes I had, I was expecting to see 180 megabytes. To my surprise I saw 100 megabytes. I immediately got perturbed; perturbed because I cannot understand why Digicel took away my megabytes that I paid for with my own money. So I did what any sane person would do, I called customer care and spoke to the supervisor on duty. After I made my case to him, he said to me Digicel is not obligated to give me back my megabytes but in order to keep their customers he would reimburse me 50 megabytes. This is robbery at its best.
I bought the additional megabytes with my money and at no time should Digicel take away my megabytes just because my plan expired. One may want to argue that since I was aware that my plan would come to an end I should not have bought so much megabytes. That argument would be absurdity in its entirety. If I wanted to buy 5,000,000 megabytes it would be my business after all it is my money that I will be buying with.
Notwithstanding the slowness and continuing on and off service of the internet you are now being robbed blatantly. I do not agree with this nonsense.
I therefore recommend that Digicel revisits the service provided and treat customers with respect and love. Respect the fact that the money we buy megabytes with is our money and you can’t take back what we bought without reimbursing us. Love us for the fact that we chose the bigger better network. Digicel please give me back my megabytes.
Editor, it is sad that I had to resort to your newspaper to vent my frustration on this issue but the supervisor on duty that day I called customer care left me no other option.
