Ansa McAl Trading Limited yesterday handed over sponsorship to a Guyanese delegation to the Special Olympics World Summer Games, July 25 – August 2 in Los Angeles.
The local distribution giant said in a press release that it intends to “assist our Guyanese team in realising their goals while making Guyana proud”. Ansa McAl’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Darshanie Yussuf stated that the company is grateful to assist.
“The company expects great achievements from the four athletes,” Yussuf said. Guyana Special Olympics Director, Wilton Spencer, thanked the company for their support.
“I take this opportunity to thank Ansa McAl for the overwhelming support towards sending our delegation to compete with 177 countries at the 2015 Special Olympics,” Spencer said.
Guyana has competed in the Minneapolis/St. Paul 1991, Connecticut 1995, North Carolina 1999, Dublin Ireland 2003 and Greece 2011 Special Olympics, and has won a total of nine gold, 13 sliver and seven bronze medals to-date.
