Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ National Playoffs…North Ruimveldt only reigning champion to make semi-finals
– Sparta Boss square off against West Front Road
Defending Georgetown champion North Ruimveldt was the only reigning titlist left standing at the conclusion of the penultimate round of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ national playoffs which was played on Saturday night, at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.
Part of the action in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ 2015 national playoffs.
They ended the two rounds in Group ‘A’ on three points gained from a solitary win against Leopold Street and a loss to Globe Yard.
Globe Yard also finished on a similar amount of points, but lost out on a semi-final spot due to an inferior goal difference to North Ruimveldt.
North Ruimveldt moved on to play West Demerara’s Showstoppers in the semi-finals which was slated to be played last evening, at Demerara Park.
The other team to emerge from Group ‘A’ was hot favourites Sparta Boss who ended the phase on five points courtesy of an outright win and a victory in a penalty shootout against Leopold Street.
They had beaten Globe Yard in their opening encounter and will now play nemesis West Front Road, the other survivor from Group ‘B’.
Shwstoppers stopped Saturday night’s show on five points after earning a penalty shootout win against West Front Road and then beating Melanie ‘B’.
West Front Road’s path to the semi-finals saw them beat Berbice’s Unruly gang and lost in a penalty shootout against Showstoppers to finish on four points, but enough for a final four berth.
