A 65-year-old watchman died on Saturday night after he was struck down by an allegedly intoxicated motorcyclist on the Line Path, Corentyne Public Road.
Police said that Ashook Kumar called “Ram, of Line Path, Skeldon Corentyne, Berbice, was attempting to cross the Line Path Public Road, when a 23-year-old, who was traveling at a fast rate on motorcycle, CG 9105, struck him.
The elderly man was picked up and rushed to the Skeldon Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said that the motorcyclist was found to be above the legal limit of alcohol consumption.
He also received injuries from the accident and was admitted to the Skeldon Hospital where he is under guard.
