Police at the Charity Outpost Police station are probing a boat accident which has left a Pomeroon teen dead and his friend traumatized. The accident occurred Monday night at Grant Burn Bush, Lower Pomeroon River.
According to reports, 18-year-old Trevon Benn and his friend Jamal France were travelling to Akawini, in the Lower Pomeroon River sometime between 9 and 10 p.m. on Monday when the boat in which they were travelling collided with a tree. Benn was manning the vessel.
Added reports indicate that the tree fell, pinning Benn in the process. Benn’s friend was flung out of the boat. He was reportedly unhurt.
The report added, sometime yesterday, passersby noticed the accident scene and rushed to the rescue. Benn’s body was recovered around 1p.m. yesterday.
Police have since recovered the broken 40horsepower engine boat and transported Benn’s body to the Suddie Funeral Parlour. His friend has submitted a statement to the investigative ranks.
