Residents in proximity to a popular night club on Cummings Street, Georgetown, are at their wits’ end to end the noise nuisance which has overwhelmed them for months.
It all started sometime last year when the residents signed a petition to ban the loud noise and disturbance emanating from the establishment.
Amongst the residents in the area is a centenarian who finds it very hard to cope with the ruckus at the night club in the wee hours of the morning.
At 104, the denizen is forced to sleep during the day because of what neighbours call the “extended version of the party” kept on the roadway, even after the club has closed. The club is active every day of the week.
Various residents protested that apart from the loud noise during party hours, even after the club has closed, patrons remain outside and are extremely rowdy.
“Sometimes after the club closes the people does be outside partying for hours, sometimes they even fight and exchange gunfire, but luckily no one was ever injured. These people have no respect for the police. We even made a petition and took it to Mr Hicken, along with other police reports, but nothing is being done. We even asked the club owners to just install sound proof things, but up to now they can’t do it,” one disappointed resident said.
The Alberttown Police Station confirmed that a report was filed and “measures are in place to have the problem resolved”.
Attempts were also made by this publication to contact the night club owners for a comment on the matter, but these efforts proved futile.
Residents of the area are now pleading not only with the owners of the night club but also with the relevant authorities to heed their reports to take action on the matter.
