The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Deonarine Ramsarran who was on Monday fished out of a trench with his motorcycle alongside him. His body was found by a fisherman who was fishing in the
Borlam Trench along the No 19 Highway.
Ramsarran, called “Blacks”, 20, of Bush Lot, West Coast, Berbice, a farmer allegedly left home earlier to visit his sister at No.1 Road, Corentyne.
According to his sister, Geeta Ramsarran, her brother who was supposedly under the influence of alcohol, left her home around 22:15 hrs for his home on West Coast, Berbice. She said that this was against their wishes. They persuaded him not to ride so late since the distance was far and he was under the influence of alcohol. However he insisted on going.
She telephoned her mother that her brother would be coming home since he left her residence. However, sometime after her brother did not arrive home, the family mounted a search including visiting the Fort Wellington Police Station. His cell phone number rang out or went to voice mail.
Their efforts turned up empty handed, until they received word that a body was found in a trench not too far from his sister’s residence about 20 feet from the Borlam Turn. Public spirited citizens helped to remove the body. Investigators reasoned that the man missed the turn and ended in the trench. His Jailing 110 motor cycle CG1250 was slightly damaged.
Ironically the man had taken the motorcycle that belongs to his brother without permission. His brother was recently jailed for six weeks on a domestic violence charge.
His relatives subsequently arrived and were inconsolable. He leaves to mourn his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Investigation is continuing.
