Shawn White a victim of a disastrous fire on January 4 last, succumbed to his injuries months later at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, GPHC. The inferno completely destroyed a two-storey house at Lot 636 ‘C’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown. Two other victims had succumbed earlier.
Mr. White was visiting his paramour, the late Tabola Abrams when the house was allegedly set ablaze; he subsequently fled the burning building through a window.
The fire was allegedly started by Abrams’ jilted lover, Gavin Harris, 48, who fled the scene but surrendered days after the incident. He also sustained burns about his body and needed medical assistance.
Harris had doused the two-storey house and its environs with gasoline and set it ablaze after he was denied entry. He had shared a turbulent seven-year relationship with Abrams.
The injured woman had related from her bed in the Burns Care Unit of Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation before she passed, that her lover wanted to rekindle the relationship.
The fire which broke out around 12:00 am on January 4, last, claimed the lives of Tabola Abrams, 38, who was a mother of three. She succumbed days later at the GPHC Burns Care Unit. Her stepfather, Clifford Sampson, 68, also perished as a result of the blaze.
The house was home to nearly a dozen people, some of whom lived on the bottom flat. Those occupying the home were Clifford Sampson, his spouse Anita Buelow, daughters Tabola Abrams and Faustine, three-year-old Troy Buelow, and some other relatives.
