The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) will participate in CONCACAF’s Women’s Football Day initiative today by organizing a series of football events at the Fruta Conquerors Tucville football ground from 10:30hrs with registration commencing one hour earlier.
Designed to empower all CONCACAF Member Associations to join forces for an annual day of celebration of women’s football, the initiative is the first of its kind for the confederation and focuses on accomplishing the following goals: • Generate awareness about the transformative power of women’s football • Promote and encourage continued investment in women’s football • Unite every Member Association in creating a memorable day of women’s football.
The GFF is excited to host the 3v3 Tournament as a female awareness event in order to kickoff a return to Women’s Football for Guyana.
Chairman of the GFF Normalization Committee, Clinton Urling, said, “This initiative from CONCACAF is commendable and the Guyana Football Federation fully supports the development of Women’s Football from the Grass Roots to the Senior Level. Our vision is to see the Women’s Game become a marketable product with Guyana having the best Women’s Programme in the CFU Region and then eventually the broader CONCACAF and FIFA Levels.”
The event is open to girls from ages 9 to Women and will include the following elements: • Opening Ceremonies • Grassroots Girls Games • U14 3v3 Tournament • Women’s 3v3 Tournament • Women’s National Team Announcement • Coaching Achievement Presentation • Special Guests, Treats, & Prizes • Closing Ceremonies.
Kick-off time for the event around the region is 11AM Eastern Time, with an Opening Ceremony scheduled for 10:30am. The GFF is requesting that all participants arrive at 09:30hrs so that all individuals can be registered and prepared for the start of the event.
