The Port Mourant Secondary School under its Head Teacher Mr Mark Lyte will be hosting its first annual ‘Fiyah Friday’ T20 for former students of the Lower Corentyne Secondary School, JC Chandisingh Secondary School, Corentyne Comprehensive High School and host Port Mourant Secondary today at the Albion Sports Complex with the finals billed to be played under lights.
KP Jagdeo and Sons Construction will take care of the Andre Percival led Corentyne Comprehesive High School, D Arjune and Sons Poultry Depot will match the John Percival Jr and his JC Chandisingh Unit, Canje based construction company Kascon Construction will take care of the Lower Corentyne Secondary School who will have national middle order batsman Rajiv Ivan in charge while A Ramcharitar Constructions will be branding the host Port Mourant Secondary who will have Joshua Ramsammy in charge.
School cricket over the last two decades has been keenly contested among these teams which has later produced many players for Berbice, Guyana and West Indies.
Also expected to don their old school colours are Berbice, Guyana and West Indies spin twins Veerasammy Permaul and Devindra Bishoo, former West Indies Opener Sewnarine Chattergoon, National Coach Esuan Crandon, Royston Crandon, Balchand Baldeo, Surujnarine Kandasammy, Delbert Hicks, Imran Khan, Orvin Mangru, Gudakesh Motie Kanhai, Johnathan Foo, Shawn Perirra, Eon Gibson as well as other former and current players.
The first ball will be bowled at 10:00hrs while there will be an exhibition 5 overs match between Port Mourant Secondary and Central Corentyne Secondary females just before the finals.
