Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on Tuesday granted an alleged chain snatcher bail in the sum of $150,000, after he was on remand for several weeks.
Kevin Mingo, 23, of Guyhoc Park appeared in court last month and denied that on April 27, at Albouystown, whilst being armed with a gun, he robbed Anfernie Catanzaro of two gold chains.
Mingo, a gold miner, further denied that on the day in question, at the same location, he robbed Patrick Dundas of two gold chains.
Mingo was granted his pre trial liberty after a bail application was made by his lawyer.
The Prosecutor had no objections to bail and he will make his next court appearance on June 12.
On his latter court appearance he was denied bail citing the seriousness, prevalence and penalty attached to the offence.
According to Corporal Bharrat Mangru, Dundas and Catanzaro were about to enter a car parked on James Street, when the accused rode up on his bicycle, pulled out a gun and relieved them of the articles mentioned in the charge. It was also related by the Prosecution that Mingo after the robbery, tried to escape on the said bicycle but was caught by the victims.
