Detectives to seek DPP advice today in MFK murder probe
Investigators at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters will be seeking the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution today after completing their initial probe into the murder of businessman, Mohamed F Khan.

This follows a confrontation between Lennox Wayne called “Two Colours”, the man who confessed to being contracted to kill Khan, and a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police along with a current serving sergeant.
Wayne, who admitted shooting Khan last July, an attack that Khan survived, has implicated the retired officer and the sergeant in the plot.
The plot was believed to be hatched by another businessman, with whom Khan had a falling out.
Khan turned up dead a month after the first attempt on his life and Wayne is laying the blame on the two men of the law.
During yesterday’s confrontation at the CID headquarters, Wayne was allowed to repeat the allegation he made against the two men, who subsequently denied it.
Wayne is at present on remand for murdering Lusignan cosmetologist, Ashmini Harriram last year.
The retired Assistant Commissioner of Police was arrested on Friday last but was released the following day, while the Sergeant has been under close arrest over the weekend.
“He (Wayne) was bold enough to face them. He did not show any fear. Remember this is a man who knows the road,” a source at the CID headquarters said.
According to the source, with investigators, Wayne traced his movements on the day he attempted to kill Khan, in an effort to convince them that his story was above board.
“We are taking additional statements from other persons as we try to ascertain if the alibis given by the retired officer and the sergeant are true,” the source said.
Detectives had swooped down on the East Bank Demerara property of the retired officer and carried out a search before arresting him.
“We searched the property, yes. But that is normal in any investigation of this nature. However we found nothing of significance,” a source at the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department told this newspaper.
The source did disclose that the decision to detain the former high ranking officer was based on telephone records that investigators managed to obtain.
The phone records reportedly linked the former officer to the murdered businessman.
Wayne had claimed that that on August 9 last year, one month after the first execution attempt, he received a telephone call from the Police Sergeant, who informed him that Khan was seen at his lawyer’s office on Hadfield Street.
Wayne said that he was told to stake out the lawyer’s office to see when Khan was leaving. It was around 14:00 hours that Wayne spotted the target and informed the Police Sergeant.
It was on this day that he claimed he saw the Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police who was also staking out the lawyer’s office for Khan.
According to Wayne, the Police Sergeant subsequently pulled up with some other persons in a heavily tinted vehicle and they too waited for Khan to emerge.
When the businessman eventually left the lawyer’s office and boarded a taxi, the Police Sergeant and the Retired Assistant Commissioner followed him in their respective vehicles.
Wayne said that he was told to back off. “They told me they would take care of things from here.”
