Dear Editor,
I thank you Lord for hearing us from heaven and healing our land, thank you for victory, for our President H.E David Granger and our First Lady Mrs. Sandra Granger and for our Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and our Second Lady Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo. The elections have come and gone, the people have made their choice and I say they have made the right choice in choosing Mr. David Arthur Granger as President. Guyana is in good hands and I congratulate my President and his new government.
It would however, be remiss of me if I fail to mention that this desired result and change that has come to our dear land would not have been possible without GOD and the Guyanese people going out and voting like never before and they did.
The APNU+AFC coalition owes this victory to the youths of Guyana, especially those of Region 4 and Region 10, which undoubtedly in my view made all the difference in these elections outcome. I would like to state that Region 10 voted like a boss, the voter turnout in these elections in my humble opinion was the most impressive of all the regions and thanks must be shown to those youths who made it possible.
I am most happy that the APNU arm of the coalition has seen and recognizes the importance of youth in these elections and saw it fitting to select Mr. Jermaine Figueira as a candidate for the Region 10 geographical list to represent the interest of the people of our region that has been marginalized for far too long, to serve in the eleventh parliament of the new government. They have chosen a good youth who is intelligent, charismatic, and respectful and undoubtedly has good leadership accruements. No one can deny that he has paid his dues during this campaign; I have seen and heard him at various public community meetings and rallies, on walkabouts around different communities, in barber shops and small gatherings. He has worked hard for his region and should be chosen to go to parliament. He is a dynamic young leader in our community, chairman of the Upper Demerara branch of the Guyana Teachers Union for the past several years, in which he was elected two times unopposed and has brought a once dead branch to life.
I call on the leadership of the coalition to not let the people of Linden down before you start leading the country. Do not let Region Ten down like the past government; give the youths a chance as they have given you. Give Mr. Jermaine Figueira a chance to serve the people of Linden and Region Ten in the eleventh parliament.
