Dear Editor,
Now that the dust has settled, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all Guyanese and the coalition on their win. For those who disagreed with the AFC for joining forces with the APNU, it is clear that the AFC and APNU made the correct judgement.
I would like to also congratulate the independent media, namely Stabroek News but more so the Kaieteur News and specifically the Freddie Kissoons of the world for exposing the previous government during their kleptocratic, cronyistic, nepotistic, non-nationalistic reign. I now plead with you (the independent media) to ensure you use same great enthusiasm and energies to keep the coalition feet to the fire to ensure they do not go down the same path.
Politicians must be reminded it is the people who vote them into government and not they who vote themselves. Once politicians have to truly compete for the people’s vote, then they have no choice but to develop the entire country and not one specific group and or section of their society.
As it relates to holding their feet to the fire, let’s start with their 100 day plan. If within the first 100 days they have not implemented at a minimum 75% of the things they stated they would, you should apply the necessary pressure to ensure they do.
On a parting note, I find it quite fascinating that 49% of the Guyanese population still thinks that the PPP is good for Guyana at this time.
Good luck to the coalition and congratulations to Guyana, we have turned the corner.
