Jason Thomas slams 86 n.o and takes 5 for 26 for Jai Hind
In latest action in the 2015 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice, Young Warriors of Cumberland were chasing 168 for victory versus Canje Pathfinders reached their target with eight wickets in hand. They were led by Wahied Edwards 74 and Mortimer Fraser 58 not out who together put on an opening partnership 150 runs.
Defending champions D’Edward also benefitted from two half centuries from Devendra Lalsa 77 (4 fours and 5 sixes) and Lakeraj Sookra 69 n.o. (3 fours and 6 sixes) seeing them to 221 for 6 in 30 overs against Bath Spartans whose leg spinner Vishal Bejai took 5 for 21 from 6 overs. The Spartans could only respond with 163 all out in 29.1 overs with medium pacer Navendra Rampersaud picking up 4 for 22.
Jason Thomas, batting at No 8 for Jai Hind, made 86 n.o. with 4 fours and 6 sixes to steer his team to 269 for 8 in 35 overs against Kendall’s Union B, who in their reply could only muster 90 in 19.3 overs. Opening bowler Thomas took 5 for 26 from 7 overs.
Other notable all round performances were turned in by former Berbice under-15 player Parasram Tilkuram of Whim National, Lakeram Latchman of No 73 Young Warriors and
