‘Pur’ Persaud carries away Crown Mining Supplies golf tournament
Patanjalee ‘Pur’ – “I love the winning feeling” Persaud, one of the Managing Directors of Crown Mining Supplies took the Best Net place on Saturday 9th May, out of a field of some 42 golfers. ‘Pur’ reported, “By the 15th hole, I said to myself if I was going to place 2nd, 3rd, or 4th I would stand down and give place to another golfer. The winners at the exciting tournament were as follows: 1st Best Net – Pur Persaud 66/23, 2nd Kalyan Tiwari 68/16, 3rd Mahendra Bhagwandin 68/24, and 4thBholawram Deo 69/16. Best Gross 71/2 was won by Avinash Persaud, Longest Drive was won by Shanella Webster, and Nearest to the Pin (1.8 m or 6ft) was won by Bholawram Deo. A Most Honest Golfer prize was awarded to Club PRO/Secretary Guy Griffith who played 101/28.
Managing Director Mahendra Persaud, in his congratulatory speech to the winners and all who participated and supported Crown Mining’s sponsorship, pointed out that with this new product addition to Crown Mining Supplies – the Parsun Outboard motor, which was the agency that sponsored Saturday’s tournament, – there is likely to be either a greater involvement in the next golf Tournament or possibly two tournaments instead of one for the year. According to Fishing Monthly Magazine of Australia in June 2011, after a 2-year review, the Parsun – 2.5hp to 40hp,- is a punchy little outboard motor – reliable, fuel efficient, simple to operate and very cost effective.Crown Mining is the sole agent for Parsun Motors in Guyana.
Mr Persaud was grateful to be able to contribute towards the prestigious sport of Golfing in Guyana, and assured the listeners of continuing support for the sport. A significant feature was that each golfer was given a Crown Mining 20th Anniversary haversack with some golf goodies inside.
Club President David Mohamad expressed gratitude on behalf of the Lusignan Golf Club and also thanked the Press who were present for their continued support and good news coverage of the activities at the Golf Club. The day’s event ended with warm refreshments.
