Pavindralall Persaud slammed an unbeaten 105 as host University of Guyana defeated Sophia by
301 runs when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament continued recently.
Batting first, UG posted 261-3 in 47 overs. Persaud scored 71, Omesh Danram 67 not out and Leon Williams 56. Sophia were skittled for 91 in reply. Lloyd George claimed 4-30 and Dennis Haywood 3-29. UG scored 236-4, batting a second time. Persaud struck 105 not out and Danram 95. Set 414 to win, the visitors were bowled out for 95 with C. Barlow scoring 49; George took 3-32.
At MYO, Georgetown Cricket Club got the better of the home team by five wickets. MYO took first strike and were skittled for 112. Abdool Karim got 38 and C. Baynes 24; Devon Lord bagged 5-32 and Stephan Wilson 2-25. GCC replied with 109. Deonarine Seegobin scored 37; S. Sankar and Parmanand Parsram claimed four wickets each. MYO were bowled out for 121 in their second turn at the crease. Baynes cracked 29; Wilson picked up 4-29, Devon Lord 3-29 and Seegobin 2-20. Set 125 to win, GCC finished on 126-5 with Seegobin scoring 53; Imtiaz Pooran had two scalps.
